Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones

This is an oil painting of Keith Richards. Like Bob Dylan, Keith Richards is very interesting to paint, his aged skin and expression show the signs of a man that has enjoyed his life! I might paint Mick Jagger someday. The canvas measures 60 x 45cm.

Bruce Springsteen

This is my fifth painting of the legendary Springsteen. This is one of my biggest ones, the canvas measures 91 x 71cm.

I have included a picture of me workin on the piece because I think it gives a better idea of what the painting is actually like it nearly brings it to life when you can see me sitting there working on it, as oppose to just seeing the usual flat finished picture which gives no idea of size or anything really.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

My latest painting is of the "Baby Faced Assassin", Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjær's most famous moment of football came in the 1999 Champions League Final when he scored the winning goal in the last minute winning The Treble for United.

free art friday

A new movement has just been started in Dublin and the first Free Art Friday is due to take place today Friday 23rd January 2009. The idea behind it is for artists to leave their work of arts on the streets of Dublin which can be taken away by their admirers for free with a note attached to the back of the artwork detailing the artist etc...

Didn't hear about this idea until yesterday so I'm too late for this year but there is always next year!

Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton

Ricky has long been one of my favorite boxers, he really puts on a great show every time he gets into the ring! His go forward at every oppurtunity style is very entertaining and successful!

I recently got two tickets to see him in the Olympia this summer so I decided to paint him.

Che Guevara

I've just finished a painting of Che Guevara. With the release of movies, Che Part One and Che Part Two I thought the timing was perfect to paint the controversial revolutionary.

Loved by some, loathed by others. I'll let you decide for yourself, I'm happy with the way the painting turned out.

I think the cigar really adds to the painting.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog! This will hopefully be the first of many posts about me and my paintings!

I'm an Irish artist. I have been drawing since a very early age but over the last few years I have started to concentrate on painting.

For the first couple of years I only worked with acrylics, recently all the portraits I've done have been done in oil which has quickly become my preferred medium.

Check back regularly for news on my latest paintings... or visit my website to see all my paintings. David
